Change for the better: Criticism

Most changes are caused by criticism. This is true because if you are doing something right, unless you think it must be changed for the better, you do nothing about it. Criticism helps a person realize their actual actions vs. what they believe their actions are.

People don’t like criticism because it is focus on their  negative attributes. The way I see it, criticism is another persons view of you; likely a view that you fail to see because you are inside the box. One thinks himself to be good, and in so doing, fail to see their own actions. We fail to see ourselves as imperfect.

What's the different between criticism and constructive criticism?

  1. Good stuff. Right on the money.

Criticism when done constructively and taken with good faith can only serve to bring the best out of you.

    Felix.

  2. I agree, criticism is necessary to help your friends or the loved ones to realize some mistakes that they wouldn't have come across other ways. We should be care full thou not to overdose on that. To much criticism adressed to one person could be hard to handle and will have a negative impact on their life.
It could even shape their personality away from the positive view that we had in our mind.
Be aware that not everyone handles criticism the same way, so get to know your friend before you throw it at them. And even thou you think they are handling it well, be sure to throw a complement here and there, to balance the energy.
If a person hears all the time how bad they are or how pathetic they are , they will most likely start believing it !

Constructive criticism helps you grow and better yourself...
Criticism can be destructive to your self estime...

  3. Right. Criticism and constructive criticism are really one and the same. The difference is how one words it in order not to make someone feel attacked.

Change for the better is really for the person who is being criticized to understand that the truth is the truth no matter how you hear it. You can get it sugarcoated or just hear it truthfully.

No doubt, we can go around and just carelessly attack people. We have to take into consideration others feelings. But others have to take into consideration that when a friend of family member informes them of what they are doing wrong, those people are often trying to help them.

We don't like criticism because our mind believes that we are perfect beings. If you ask someone if they are perfect, they will probably say no. But when you tell them they are doing something wrong, they will challenge with everything that they have.

Knowing that we are not perfect, why then do they challenge? Why then do they not take a minute to take the information in and evaluate?

Because in our mind, each of us, we are superhuman beings that cannot be caught, unbreakable, too smart; We think we are perfect! (in our mind)
