Do animals have souls? This question has left me and many others puzzled. Some people believe that dogs, cats, and certain other animals have a soul but why them and not others? Are we using intelligence in determination of a soul? Why pets or animals that we consider to have some intelligence have souls and those we do not know of don't? How about cows and chickens? all those animals we consume? It's hard to think of them as having a soul because then we come to realization that we are killing things "living" in a state; things in a state. What about those who kill and eat other people? Do they think that the people they are killing have a soul? Insects? We step on them because we don't want them around and are freaked out by them.
So what does a thing have to have to have a soul? What is the meaning of having a soul? For example a soul would be seen as a man entering a ship and bringing the ship to live. When then man is out of the ship, the ship cease to live. So when we die what keeps us dead? Why can we get the same types of injuries and some die and some other continue to live?
